Who is Cobra Interrogator, dear Cobra Commander?

Well here it is, the final piece to Vacation in the Shadows, this year’s G.I.Joe Con Box set; a set that’s really sealed the deal for me with the last couple of reveals. While none of the characters individually grab me like the Collector Club’s free membership figure – Big Lob – this figure and the prior figure announced, the Red Shadows trooper, in my mind are two rather strong additions.

Red Shadows Trooper storming G.I. Joe Con!

Over at BSCkids I’m continuing my round-up of the G.I.Joe Club’s Convention set as new figures are introduced. Last week I talked about The Black Major, Flint, and Red Torch, three of the 5 figures we’d get from this 15-figure set (2 are troopers and come in sets of  6). The two left remaining are Interrogator and the Red Shadows troopers, and I peeped over at their site that they revealed the latter!

Vacation in the Shadows – G.I. Joe con Invaded by Red Shadows!

Vacation in the Shadows. It’s probably slightly sad that I’m so excited about this! I got an email from Hasbro/Fun Publications regarding the G.I. Joe convention set. You may recall that I posted my thoughts about the first announcement that got me pumped for G.I. Joe this year that came in the form of Big Lob (I posted the press release at BSCkids)! While very pleased, I also mentioned that I was a bit bummed (but put a positive spin on) as it seemed that we’d probably see less and less convention exclusives in the classic 3 3/4 molds–the only types of figures that interest me at all. Thankfully, I was wrong as not only are we are getting a full blown 15 figure set – it’s all new and actually a set – Vacation in the Shadows – fans have been asking for: The Red Shadows!

Big Lob Makes His Move! Yo Joe!

Over at BSCkids I put up a brief news item about the G.I. JOE Collectors’ Club membership figures for next year. Since the only G.I. JOE I acknowledge is 3 ¾ molds from the A Real American Hero Line (and O-ring only, baby), I don’t have much to look forward to anymore as Hasbro has been focusing on their new molds (the ones you see in your stores now), which I have absolutely no beef with and hope the best for, but are not at all a personal interest of mine. In some sense it’s a positive as I’m able to be comprehensive (if I choose to be) in my pick-ups each year due to the limited options/supply. I am not an expert on the Collector’s Club. I have a ton of the product they’ve put out, and while I’ve certainly heard the back-and-forth and pros and cons on the club (and Master Collector) on several online message boards, I can only really talk about the product from the perspective of JOE fan, who also isn’t a toymaker or an aspiring one.
