Joe Adventure Team Set not Completely Wack

gijoe adventure team set

Something can be (kinda) cool while still being something I’d never buy (yet completely in my niche of interest). I should get a couple of facts out there to clarify my stance thoughts. First, I’d never buy any G.I. Joe related figure that isn’t ARAH and O-ring. Second, it’s not a platform, – even if (seems to be to some in the Joe collecting/enthusiast community – I don’t visit boards or make posts about the lack of relevance of the newer molds because of the very fact that I don’t care about said molds. If I don’t have time to enjoy them, I certainly don’t have the time to belittle them or the people who enjoy them.

Who is Cobra Interrogator, dear Cobra Commander?

Well here it is, the final piece to Vacation in the Shadows, this year’s G.I.Joe Con Box set; a set that’s really sealed the deal for me with the last couple of reveals. While none of the characters individually grab me like the Collector Club’s free membership figure – Big Lob – this figure and the prior figure announced, the Red Shadows trooper, in my mind are two rather strong additions.

Red Shadows Trooper storming G.I. Joe Con!

Over at BSCkids I’m continuing my round-up of the G.I.Joe Club’s Convention set as new figures are introduced. Last week I talked about The Black Major, Flint, and Red Torch, three of the 5 figures we’d get from this 15-figure set (2 are troopers and come in sets of  6). The two left remaining are Interrogator and the Red Shadows troopers, and I peeped over at their site that they revealed the latter!

Just a quick note on a post I just put up over at BSCkids, and a visual addition to my recent twit. Above is an image I got emailed to me (big ups to Hasbro and Fun Publications) of this year’s Transformers Collectors’ Club member figure, Dion.

Vacation in the Shadows – G.I. Joe con Invaded by Red Shadows!

gijoe convention set red shadows

Vacation in the Shadows. It’s probably slightly sad that I’m so excited about this! I got an email from Hasbro/Fun Publications regarding the G.I. Joe convention set. You may recall that I posted my thoughts about the first announcement that got me pumped for G.I. Joe this year that came in the form of Big Lob (I posted the press release at BSCkids)! While very pleased, I also mentioned that I was a bit bummed (but put a positive spin on) as it seemed that we’d probably see less and less convention exclusives in the classic 3 3/4 molds–the only types of figures that interest me at all. Thankfully, I was wrong as not only are we are getting a full blown 15 figure set – it’s all new and actually a set – Vacation in the Shadows – fans have been asking for: The Red Shadows!

Glow-in-the-Dark Black Solar Penguin!

I don’t like owing people money. I’m one of those people who pays their bills before I get the letter and I don’t keep a balance on credit cards (though I recognize and utilize the added security in using them at times). I also treat VALIANT seriously. Penguins? Deadly serious. That’s why I’m glad that I checked back on the VALIANTFans boards and was reminded that I ordered two of these last year! Bills payed, penguins on the way!

Glow-in-the-Dark Black Solar! I ordered two of these babies chicks!

G.I. Joe Vermilion Files

Last night I decided to do a quick last second (manual) Ebay search. I’ve stated in other posts how very few domestic releases of G.I. Joe are truly rare. Certainly there are (relative) pricey items, but pieces like the Defiant and U.S.S Flagg are not uncommon; indeed they are quite available, you just have to have the scratch. For this reason, I rarely get surprised by any listings, but yesterday something you don’t see everyday popped up.
