Malazan Ascendancy – new blog about my favorite series!

Just wanted to a quick pointer (will probably mention this at BSC once I get done with the first chapter) at a new blog I’m doing based on a re-read of the works of Steven Erikson and Ian Cameron Esslemont. Straight dope from the about us page:

Malazan Ascendancy is a blog dedicated to the appreciation of the works of Steven Erikson and Ian Cameron Esslemont. I’ve been wanting to do this for some time now, and since I’m now in the process of a re-read I figured now is as good a time as any. It’s mostly but not limited to a live chapter re-read outline (Tomio’s Folly) that will be followed by an opinion post (The Re-Read) on that chapter. It’s more than probable that other types of posts will pop up sporadically.

It is by no means meant to be viewed as comprehensive, merely a fan’s musings and an effort to record and share them. Since this is a project based on my own personal experience, I’d warn people about definite existence of spoilers in the opinion posts. I will also be updating character pages as I go, though these will be limited to central characters or those that simply interest me.

I want to apologize in advance for any delays in posting. My online time is rather limited, and being one of the old guard of a network of sites that attracts a million viewers a month takes much of it (how the worshipers bind the gods!). I don’t really expect any rush of interest to begin with, as this – more than anything – is something I view as a personal tool-in-the-making to add more enjoyment to a series I already have a passion for. I both welcome and appreciate any productive comments, corrections, contributions and participation. Always an even trade.

Spiff Six Shot – new personal blog

Just wanted to give a heads up that I started a new personal blog called Spiff Six Shot (S6S). I wanted to keep Vogue Immunity collecting focused, so S6S is where everything that’s not here, at BSCkids, or BSCreview is going to be placed.

While there is no official word count at either the Deathstar (aka BSCreview) or Moon’s Spawn (aka BSCkids) there are some preferable techie/format truths about both sites that don’t really allow me to just come through and drop brief thought on some subjects.

I just started, so I only have 2 posts up; an intro piece (explains the name and such-hint on half of it can be found at a past post here at VI), and my thoughts on recent moves by my Detroit Lions.

Spiff, Six Shot, and the Lions. The trifecta of awesome!

BSC Empire Notes

First, I just wanted to alert the few folks who may read this blog and not BSC that the signed/limited Jeffrey Jones print of George R.R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones I talked about before here, is now up for grabs at BSC. It’s open to anyone who follows BSC on twitter or is a Facebook Friend. That’s pretty much the way it’s going to be in regards to contests from now on (including the one I just put up for 2 chances at SyFy’s Caprica DVD). Don’t want to win, don’t do either. It’s all good.

Spider-Man & the Secret Wars #1 review

Hulk-mountain-Secret-Wars-4

I don’t do a ton of reviews anymore (though I’m prepping my Favorite Best Reads of 2009 list and can tell you that a comic tops the list), but over at BSCKids I jotted down some brief thoughts I had of Spider-Man & the Secret Wars #1. I was drawn to this project (check out the preview that I also posted over there–Marvel is the one of the Big II that actually promotes its titles) due to the story taking place in pockets around the the original (this would be Shooter, not Bendis!) Secret Wars, and I just had a load of fun reading it!

BSCkids is Live!

bsckids premiere

Just a moment to talk some “serious” business. We just launched a sister site of BSCreview called BSCkids. We are still putting it together, but we have a lot of content, both lined up and in the works. Our original thought for initiating Kids actually got sped up after conversations we had with high ups in high places always telling us that there was this void for the true younger market (i.e. not teen-Twilight).
